Broad Ripple Village

Broad Ripple Village is a fusion of old and new, commercial and creative – a vibrant center of restaurants, shops, and nighttime hotspots, surrounded by long-established neighborhoods and shaped by nearby parks, the Central Canal and the winding White River. Broad Ripple Village is one of six Indianapolis Cultural Districts, the only district located outside of downtown.

What Everyone Knows

Broad Ripple Village is home to some of Indianapolis' best-educated and most open-minded citizens. Over the past decade, "Broad Ripple bungalows" have soared in price and desirability. With its proximity to some of Indianapolis' most established and affluent neighborhoods, this is prime real estate for Indy's creative class.

By day, Broad Ripple Village is awash with shoppers and diners. The Monon Trail is crowded with joggers, bikers, skaters and strollers. The coffee shops buzz with activity. It's young and energetic, quaint and leisurely.

By night, Broad Ripple Village comes alive with music lovers who head for the Vogue for the best local and national touring acts. The younger crowd heads for the bars that line Broad Ripple Avenue. And food lovers pack Broad Ripple's independent restaurants.

What the locals know

You can experience the outdoors in Broad Ripple Village. In addition to the popular Monon Trail and Central Canal Towpath, Broad Ripple Village boasts the White River for recreation like paddleboarding, kayaking, and boating and several nearby parks with trails, pools, and splashpads.

Fashion, vinyl, gifts… shopping is too much fun in the Village. Marigold Clothing is fashion headquarters for sophisticated-yet-comfortable brands you won't find anywhere else in the city. The Bungalow and Artifacts Gallery are must-stop-shops for gifts. Music junkies go to Indy CD & Vinyl to talk to Annie and Andy. Yes, we even have our own Men’s undie boutique (Toolbox Men’s Supply Co.).

We are foodies. Broad Ripple offers a variety of ethnic cuisine, vegetarian/vegan restaurants, and farm-to-table restaurants. Some of our favorites include La Chinita Poblana, Canal Bistro Mediterranean Grill, 3 Sisters Café, Ezra’s Enlightened Café, and The Garden Table.

While we are on the topic of food, we like to eat outside, often times with our dogs. Many Broad Ripple restaurants offer outdoor seating, many are dog-friendly. Check out Flatwater and Plumps.

We have the best sweets in Indy! We recommend stopping in to The Cake Bake Shop, brics (Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station), Nicey, and Rene's Bakery.

The best festivals and events take place in our ‘hood. To name a few: Broad Ripple Art Fair, Broad Ripple Gallery Tours, Broad Ripple Music Fest, WARM Fest, Broad Ripple Zombie Walk, Indy Wine and Brew Fest, Microbrewers Festival, Drumstick Dash, Hoods & Hops Car Show, Installation Nation, Art vs. Art.

From cutting edge styles to an old-school shave and a haircut, you can get your hair "done" at lots of places like Bambu Salon, Belladonna, Style Salon, and the Village Barber Shop.

Everyone goes to the Broad Ripple Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. It’s the best.
