brva information

The Broad Ripple Village Association is a volunteer nonprofit neighborhood organization composed of residents and businesses located in or near the northside Indianapolis area known as Broad Ripple.  Founded in 1969, the BRVA is in its 41st year of serving the community.  The association is a formally organized corporation and is registered with the Office of the Secretary of State and the Internal Revenue Service.

The official boundaries of the BRVA are Kessler Boulevard East Drive on the south, North Meridian Street on the west, the White River on the north, and North Evanston Avenue on the east.  Individuals, businesses, and organizations outside the boundaries, who are interested in contributing to the well-being of Broad Ripple Village, may also join the association.

The affairs of the organization are governed by an elected Board of Directors.  According to its Bylaws, the BRVA Board may have no fewer than nine members and no more than fifteen members.  The Board elects the officers, who are referred to collectively as the Executive Committee.  The officers include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Legal counsel and accounting services are appointed by the Board of Directors.

The initiatives, projects, and events of the Association are carried out by various standing and ad hoc committees, which report their activities to the Board of Directors for information and action.

An Executive Director, hired by the Board of Directors of the Broad Ripple Village Association, works as a liaison between the membership, the Board, the committees, the community, other neighborhood organizations, and the City of Indianapolis.
